Our Projects

Higher Education
We design all manner of spaces for higher education up to and including research facilities. Our most recent work was Grangegorman Campus Dublin University of Technology Central Quad and East quad which was awarded Education building of the year 2021 Irish Construction Industry Awards. The 2 quads were 5 storey buildings incorporating all areas of curriculum for technology, science, catering, arts and media. Our role included planning all spaces from a blank sheet of paper taking the design brief and creating spaces that delivered the curriculum, through to procurement and installation.
The role included laboratory planning and design, creating a National Optometry Centre, a National Concert Hall and support spaces, fine arts and media, catering teaching plus teaching super spaces such as classrooms, meeting rooms and lecture spaces. In all spaces, we designed a solution that was right for each department and each space considering all aspects of coordination including gasses, audio visual requirements, extract and power and data demands. This role was pivotal in terms of translating highly technical curriculum demands into the design team, incorporating legacy equipment including high spec scientific equipment, items of significant display impact including some ‘museum’ pieces and a mass of general equipment exceeding 5,000 items.

Karen Sanderson
An award winning Design Director, procurement and logistic expert Karen has worked in the commercial, health and education sector for the past 20 years. Her experience is extensive and she has the ability to translate a brief into a suite of spaces that deliver a modern yet technically engaging and adaptive environment.
Adam Goodayle
Adam has worked within the FF&E sector since 2003. He lectured in Conceptual design and planning at BA level, tutoring at Art and Design foundation level teaching Product/ Furniture design, architecture/interiors and sculpture. He has a wide experience of the furniture and equipment manufacturing industry and have been involved in designing bespoke furniture within the educational sector. He has an in depth knowledge on FF&E /MEP service integration of the design and build process.

Red Apple Designs at The Joiners Shop
The Joiners Shop is a Scheduled Ancient Monument situated at the heart of Chatham’s world-famous historic dockyard. With over 100 buildings and structures, including 47 Scheduled Ancient Monuments, the Historic Dockyard is both an international maritime heritage site and designated conservation area.
Many of the building’s remarkable original features remain in its latest incarnation – with every care being given to preserve and incorporate them into the new design, wherever possible. Considering the building’s age, it has remained in relatively good condition. Initial surveys showed signs of water ingress so structural work was required to prevent further damage and to create a suitable modern working environment.
Today, The Joiners Shop stands as a showcase for both innovative design and cutting-edge restoration techniques.
